Barry Sheppard, MD
Dr. Sheppard is a board-certified Family Practice physician. He and his wife, Deborah, moved to Northern California in 1980 following a five month bicycling/camping trip in Europe. Dr. Sheppard briefly worked in the Bay area (Vallejo, Benicia) but soon longed for the tranquility of points north. He moved to the beautiful Ukiah valley in 1981 and with his wife developed a thriving family practice.
Because Dr. Sheppard is equally talented in emergency medicine, he eventually transitioned into full time emergency medicine with the core of PRMG in 1990. His family practice specialty has served him well in the day to day care of all age groups.
Combining this with nineteen years of full time emergency experience, he is well equipped to manage treatment of Ukiah's many medical problems.
Barry and Deborah and their sixteen-year-old son, Carson, live in the Willits area, thirty minutes north of Ukiah. Deborah has a Master's degree in nutritional science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently, she spends most of her time teaching courses to Carson in his high school independent study program. This enables Carson to fulfill his raison-d'etre, golf. He is a freshman on the remarkable Ukiah High School varsity golf team.
Barry's diverse interests include book collecting and reading, traveling (especially to Italy), hiking, camping, and playing the accordion. Barry's dream is to play more golf and break his personal best of 150.
