Emily T Frey, PA-CEmily Frey is a P.A. certified by the NCCPA who has been working in community medicine in one form or another since her graduation in 1996. She had a previous career as a lay midwife and medical assistant in a community clinic. She is a member of the California Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). She was raised in the arena of community medicine, as her father, Dr. Joe D. Wray, was a pediatrician specializing in international public health whose career spanned the globe and four decades. His focus was on primary health care, including the worldwide promotion of immunizations and breastfeeding. Emily's medical career has included work at two community clinics, two family practice physicians, and medical mission work in Guatemala, as well as her current work in the emergency department at Ukiah Valley Medical Center. Emily's birthplace was Ankara, Turkey. She also lived in Cali, Colombia and Bangkok, Thailand during her childhood. Her early wandering years may have led to her deep-rootedness as an adult, as she moved to Mendocino County in 1981, married, and has never left. She and her husband Luke are part of a wine-making family business, Frey Vineyards, one of the first organic wineries in the United States. They have three children, now young adults, and two grandchildren. Emily's personal interests include hiking, cooking, reading, sewing, and gardening. Living in northern California has given her the opportunity to develop a relationship with the natural world that was not possible during her childhood in third-world countries. As a result of her early contact with diverse cultures, however, she has an interest in (and tolerance for) cultural differences, and her greatest enjoyment in her work as a P.A. comes from the opportunity to interact with many kinds of people.
