Charlie Evans

Dr. Evans first became interested in medicine through service work in Latin America with Amigos de las Americas in the early 70's. After completing undergraduate work at Cal, and med school at UCSF he moved to Sonoma County for residency. All the while he pursued international health opportunities in Nicaragua, Bolivia, Honduras, Guatemala, and Cuba. From 1988-1990 he was on site medical director of a rural clinic on Lake Victoria in Kenya serving as one of the only docs in a 50 mile radius.

Upon returning to the States in 1991, he started as a staff physician at Ukiah Valley Medical Center. In 2001, he assumed his current responsibilities with Pacific Redwood Medical Group. His interest in administration lies in providing access for all to the highest quality of medical care. Following in Dr. Gester's footsteps, his mentor, Dr. Evans in collaboration with Dr. Luoto has led the group in a team egalitarian approach that rewards us all for our commitment to quality and service.

Dr. Evans yearns to return to international work. Until that is possible he enjoys his work as TB Contoller for the county which keeps him abreast of some of the newer develops in international health.

Charlie lives south of Ukiah in Healdsburg in an 1885 Victorian that he remodeled with old growth redwood recycled from the original structure. He has three children -Daniel, Carolyn and Kenneth-to whom he is devoted. They keep him on his toes when he is not at work, with their many sporting activities and school projects.

When spare time does arrive, Charlie will look for a river. His passion lies in whitewater kayaking and he can often be found surfing a wave on one of the north coast rivers. The perfect vacation would include his three kids on a river that explores a remote wilderness canyon.
